Island Cup Carnival - Feb 2013
Kangaroo Island comes alive over the Coopers Kangaroo Island Cup Carnival weekend held at the beautiful Cygnet River Race Course, a few kilometres from Kingscote. This country racecourse is transformed at this time of the year with trackside marquees, colourful signs and flags and a party atmosphere. More and more people are making a long weekend of it and enjoying the carnival atmosphere of the Coopers Kangaroo Island Cup.
The highlight of the weekend being the Kangaroo Island Cup Race Day on Sunday 19th February, there is a lot more to the KI Cup Carnival.
Friday
Race Day One - Cygnet River Racecourse, Kingscote
Time: Gates open 11am
Cost: Adults $15 | U/15 free
Warm up for Sunday with a relaxed day of
great country racing at the Cygnet River
Racecourse.
With $65,000 in prize money up for grabs,
the racing on track will be fierce as will the
competition off the track in the traditional
Friday ‘Crayfish Picking Competition’.
The first day of the Carnival is a a casual
race meet with a seven race program,
bookmakers, TA B, caterers, bar facilities
and live music by the Famous Strangers.
Race Day 2 - Sunday
On Sunday join a crowd of around 3500 people trackside to celebrate all that is great about true country racing as well as fashion, a good variety of food including local KI produce, Kangaroo Island wines and Coopers beer (of course), entertainment and on-course bookmakers, making this a fantastic event.
This year racing on Kangaroo Island will be broadcast around the country with Sky Channel.
